"Oh, you found a ladybug? How old is it?"
"It is 12 years old," Lauren replied, as she counted its spots. "And it is yellow."
"Cool. A yellow ladybug."
"I am just glad it is not white."
"Oh?"
"Because white ladybugs are cursed."
"They are?"
"Yes. I read it in a book."

This reminds me of the episode of the Simpsons when Homer gets Bart a cursed Krusty doll. He buys it from some creepy dealer. The dealer says "the doll is cursed" and Homer says "that's bad" and the dealer says "but it comes with a free frogurt". Of course the frogurt is cursed...
Actually,pretty much everything makes me think of an episode of the Simpsons.
