Lauren has 4 ducks that we play with every day at bathtime. She named them Uno, Dos, Tres (which she pronounces Thess), and Quattro. Friday is Share Day, and she asked if she could bring one of the ducks to school. Why not?
Well, I didn't think that Lauren would decide to share Dos with a friend on the bus and she would get lost.
Bathtime was very, very sad.
She mopily got out of the tub, wrapped herself in a towel, and announced she didn't feel much like a story tonight.
"Ok," I said.
She went into her room where Alec and Lindsay were waiting. He found that Candy, Lauren's betta fish, had died. When I came into the room to give her a hug, she was lying on her bed, still in the towel, face down sobbing. "I want another fish like Candy."
"Ok," I said. "We can go to the pet store tomorrow."
Hopefully, the weekend will get better.

What a horrible day, and I thought mine was bad!
I hope you get 'another' Candy tomorrow...
Losing Dos and Candy on the same day is so sad! It's also awful that Dos was lost while sharing with a friend...not very encouraging, I'm sure. :(
Aw...poor Lauren! That's a lot for one little girl. Good luck finding another Candy.
There are days when you just wish you'd stood in bed.
We're still waiting, what happened at the pet shop? LOL
That reminds of the duck song Kate sings at bath time. It's tragic. "Five little ducks went out to play, over the hills and far away Mother Duck said 'quack, quack, quack' but only 4 little ducks came back..." and so on until Mother Duck's children have been picked off one by one. Childhood can be so harsh. I hope you find the perfect replacement fish.
oh noooo...but at the end, all the little ducks are supposed to come back! :)epiph & lauren...i'm sorry about Dos and Candy..that's a very hard thing as an adult but as a kid it's even harder...and on the same day too...I hope Cinco or Candy 2 can help ease the disappointment....please keep us posted!
