The girls

I left a comment in the previous post before reading down. The breast feeding thing does not surprise me. It is the newest "must have". I was not breast fed and though I may be an exception rather than the rule I think I turned out ok. My immune system is pretty darned good and my thinking skills are above average. I know it is hard to ignore the hairy eyeball but some moms get it just for not having a Bugaboo. Just wait. There'll be a study that shows that breast feeding too long causes mental problems and the whole thing will swing the other way.

Well put. My dad points out that his mom smoked cigarettes and drank during all her pregnancies because they didn't know the risks of either. He turned out OK. We turned out OK despite being bottlefed, and it doesn't seem our moms carry around this same amount of shame we do about fulfilling some sort of biological imperative.
